Here are some projects entrusted to Fr Edo by his Archbishop in which Amici di Gulu Association collaborates.

Financial help to the local families who have adopted orphans.
The prevailing civil war and AIDS cause many children in Northern Uganda to be orphans. The Archdiocese of Gulu is unable to organise a distant adoption system (due to the prevailing situation of insecurity), but it helps the local families who have adopted orphaned children to pay their school fees.

Manual water pumps and wells

The digging of a well and the installation of a manual water pump in remote outstations is a constant need. Each installation costs EU € 7,500 and can serve a population of 500-800 people.

Angelo Negri College

T
he works of construction of Angelo Negri College are now completed. Through Fr. Edo, Archbishop Odama has asked Amici di Gulu to co-finance them. Above, you can see the commencement of the works (two left photos), and some stages of advancement.

Here you can see the 12,000 gallons water tank, the completion of the teachers' hall, dorms, assembly hall and classrooms.

Donated by Antonio Pascual. The deck-beds of the S.2 dorm were donated by a child, who decided to renounce his First Communion gifts and send the equivalent for the Angelo Negri boys. Thus, students in Gulu will remember Antonio Pascual's generosity every night.

One more European youngster has grown up in the Church. On the day of his first encounter with Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, Carlos too, like his elder brother Antonio a few years ago, has chosen to offer his brothers in Uganda a tangible sign of the Communion of Saints. He gave up all the gifts for his First Communion, asking his parents and relatives to turn the money to us; with his generosity it has become possible to acquire eight new bicycles for as many Catechists, so that a lot of young Christian Ugandans will be led and accompanied to their own first encounter with Jesus.
As time goes, the commitment of the young Pascuals is unfailing: Pablito too, in the footsteps of his elder brothers, has offered all the money he received on the occasion of his First Communion to help the needs of Gulu Diocese. His generosity has enabled us to buy 9 bicycles for as many catechists.

Sustenance of the local priests and catechists

Normally a mission parish has 20 - 40 outstations, and the parish priest can only reach there once in two months - provided he has the means of transport. This is why the pastoral work of the Diocesan Priests and of the Catechists is made possible through foreign contributions. For instance, this year three parish priests had their vehicle burned to ashes by the rebel fighters in the area. Unless we help them purchase another means of transport they will remain incapable of visiting their flock in their outstations. Bicycles are needed for the catechists who are in charge of these outstations.
